The census date holds significant importance for Ikon domestic students, as it marks several critical deadlines:
- Withdrawal and HELP Debt: It is the final day for a student to withdraw from a unit of study without incurring a HELP debt for that unit. Missing this date means the debt will be applied, even if the student discontinues later.
- FEE-HELP and HECS-HELP Applications: Students must submit their requests for FEE-HELP or HECS-HELP by this date. Failure to do so will leave the student ineligible for these financial assistance options.
- Enrolment Cancellation: Students who have not submitted a Request for Commonwealth Assistance Form by the census date will have their enrolment in the unit of study cancelled by the education provider.
- Recrediting HELP Balance: For students seeking to recredit their HELP balance due to special circumstances, the census date is pivotal. Any applications must consider circumstances arising on or after this date.
