If you believe your assessment mark or grade is incorrect, you can request a review. First, you must seek clarification by discussing your result informally with your lecturer via the Learning Management System (LMS) within three (3) business days of receiving your mark. If the concern isn’t resolved after receiving their feedback, you may lodge a formal request within ten (10) business days of receiving that initial review outcome. A review may result in your grade increasing, decreasing, or remaining the same.
Before you start
- Review the Assessment Policy.
- Contact your lecturer via LMS within 3 business days of receiving your mark to seek clarification and constructive feedback.
- You may only proceed to a formal application if your concern remains unresolved after receiving the outcome of this informal discussion.
Eligibility
You may submit a formal review request only if:
- The informal clarification step via the LMS has been completed.
- Your request is based on valid academic grounds, such as:
- The assessment wasn’t marked in accordance with published criteria in the Subject Outline or Marking Rubric.
- A technical or administrative error occurred in marking or mark collation.
- There was bias on the part of the marker.
- Other valid academic grounds.
- You are prepared to provide the mandatory details required by Section 20.3 of the policy, including the specific issues to be addressed, clear supporting evidence (with examples from your assessment), and the form of resolution you are seeking.
Important information
- Requests must be submitted within 10 business days of receiving the initial review outcome from your marking lecturer.
- Incomplete submissions or applications missing specific assessment examples and clear evidence will not be processed.
- Applications based strictly on factors such as workload, financial hardship, personal circumstances, or comparison with other students are not valid grounds for an academic review.
- You will receive an email acknowledgement of receipt within three (3) business days of submission.
- The Head of School (or delegate) will provide a written decision, including the explicit reasons for the determination, within ten (10) business days of receiving your request.
- Please note that a formal review may result in your grade being increased, decreased, or remaining unchanged.
- If you disagree with the final formal determination, you can appeal the decision under the processes outlined in the Grievance & Appeals Policy.
