Important: Subject withdrawal is only available to domestic students. International students cannot withdraw from individual subjects but may apply for a Leave of Absence in certain circumstances.
Domestic students may withdraw from a subject at any time; however, the timing of your request determines how it affects your academic record and tuition fees.
Withdrawing before the census date
Students can withdraw from a subject up until the published census date for the trimester.
- No academic penalty applies.
- No tuition fees will be charged, and no FEE-HELP debt will be incurred.
Withdrawing after the census date
Withdrawals submitted after the census date—without approved compassionate or compelling circumstances—will result in a Withdrawn–Fail (WF) grade appearing on the transcript.
- Tuition fees (or FEE-HELP debt) will still apply.
- Refunds are not available beyond the census date unless the withdrawal is approved on compassionate or compelling grounds (see the Fees and Refunds Policy for details).
Census dates vary each trimester, so make sure to check the Important Dates page on the Ikon website before finalising your withdrawal.
How to withdraw
- Complete the online Course/Subject Withdrawal & Leave of Absence Form.
- A written outcome will be provided within 2–3 business days of submitting your application.
