An Individual Learning Plan (ILP) is a confidential document that outlines the reasonable adjustments approved to support your learning needs. It ensures you can participate fully in your studies while maintaining academic standards. Your ILP is created after your Reasonable Adjustment application is approved and is reviewed annually or when your circumstances change. This plan helps your lecturers understand what adjustments are in place to best support your success at Ikon.
What an ILP Includes
Your ILP lists the specific reasonable adjustments approved based on recommendations from your healthcare or support professional.
Adjustments may include:
- Additional time or alternate arrangements for assessments
- Modified learning materials or formats (e.g., large print, captions, or digital resources)
- Assistive technology or ergonomic equipment
- Flexible attendance or participation expectations
- Access to quiet or low-distraction environments
Each ILP is individualised to your needs and does not alter academic standards or learning outcomes.
How It’s Shared
Once approved, your ILP is shared confidentially with:
- Your lecturers or assessors, so they can implement the agreed adjustments; and
- The Education and Student Experience teams, who coordinate and monitor support.
Only staff members directly involved in supporting your learning have access to your ILP details. All information is handled under Ikon’s Privacy Policy.
Reviewing and Updating Your ILP
Your ILP will be reviewed:
- At least once per year, or
- Earlier, if your needs or circumstances change.
If you experience a new health condition or change in your situation, contact the Student Experience Team to update your ILP. This ensures your support remains effective and appropriate.
Students are encouraged to actively communicate any changes that may affect their study or assessment performance.
Confidentiality and Record Management
All ILPs are treated as confidential records and stored securely. Information will only be shared where necessary to facilitate your support or meet legal obligations.
Ikon will not provide adjustments if a student chooses not to disclose an additional need or circumstance that affects their studies.
