This page explains how to log in to Ikon student systems, reset your password, and complete required security steps such as Microsoft Authenticator when prompted.
1. Do I use the same login details for all systems?
Yes. You use the same login details for most student systems.
Username: Your student email address (StudentIDNumber@student.ikon.edu.au)
Password: The password you set after your first login
These login details are used for:
- Student Portal
- Student Email
- Microsoft 365
- Canvas
- Library Resources
2. I’ve forgotten my password
If you’ve forgotten your password, you can reset it at any time:
- Go to outlook.office.com
- Select Forgot my password
- Follow the prompts to reset your password
Your updated password will apply across supported student systems.
3. Why am I asked to verify my login?
You may occasionally be asked to verify your login for security reasons. This can happen if:
- You’re signing in from a new device
- You haven’t logged in for a while
Verification helps protect your account and personal information.
Setting Up Microsoft Authenticator
If prompted, you’ll need to set up Microsoft Authenticator to verify your login. This is a one-time setup and usually only takes a few minutes.
Before You Start
You will need
- A smartphone (iPhone or Android)
- Internet access on both your phone and computer
Step 1: Install Microsoft Authenticator (Phone)
- Open your phone’s app store (App Store or Google Play)
- Search for Microsoft Authenticator
- Install the app (it is free)
Keep the app installed on your phone for future logins.
Step 2: Start Sign-In on Your Computer
- Open a web browser and go to student.edu.com.au
-
Select Sign in with Microsoft
- Enter your student email address (StudentIDNumber@student.ikon.edu.au)
- Select Next
Step 3: Enter Your Temporary Password
- Enter the temporary password sent to your personal email address (email subject line: Welcome to your Ikon Student Portal)
- If you can’t find the email, check your junk/spam folder
- If needed, select Forgot my password and follow the prompts
- Select Sign in
Step 4: Begin Authenticator Setup
After signing in, you will see a message asking you to set up Microsoft Authenticator.
-
Select Next to begin the setup
-
Continue selecting Next until a QR code appears on your screen
(Do not close this page)
Step 5: Add Your Account in the Authenticator App (Phone)
- Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone
-
Select the + icon (top right)
-
Choose Work or school account
- Select Scan a QR code
- Use your phone to scan the QR code displayed on your computer screen
Your account will now be added to the app.
Step 6: Complete Verification
- Return to your computer and select Next
-
You may be asked to approve a sign-in request or enter a number shown on your screen
- Follow the on-screen instructions in the Authenticator app
- Select Yes to approve
Once completed, you will be taken to the Student Portal homepage.
If You’re Asked to Verify Again Later
You may be asked to approve a login again in the future. This is normal and does not mean there is a problem with your account.
Keep the Microsoft Authenticator app installed on your phone.
