You can apply for Special Consideration if unexpected circumstances—such as illness, injury, or serious personal challenges—have affected your ability to complete an assessment. This process ensures fair outcomes for students experiencing compassionate, compelling, or extenuating circumstances. To apply, complete the online form with valid supporting evidence. Submitting a clear and complete application helps your request be reviewed efficiently under Ikon’s Assessment Policy.
Before you apply
If you haven’t already, review Before You Apply for Special Consideration to check whether you’re eligible and what evidence you’ll need to include.
Applications without the required information or documents can’t be assessed.
How to apply
- Complete the online Special Consideration Submission Form.
- Attach supporting evidence (PDF or JPG) that explains your situation.
- Submit your application on or before your assessment due date or time.
- If you’re submitting late, include a short explanation for the delay — late requests are only considered in exceptional cases.
Applications are usually processed within two business days, and you’ll receive an outcome by email.
What happens next
Your application will be reviewed by the Student Experience Team, and if required, referred to the Head of School (or delegate) for approval.
You’ll receive an email once a decision has been made:
- Approved – you’ll be advised of your new due date, alternate task, or other approved arrangement.
- More information required – you may be contacted to provide clarification or additional evidence.
-
Not approved –
you’ll be notified of the decision and can explore your next steps through the Appeal process.
