You can apply for a Remittal of Fees if compassionate or compelling circumstances—such as serious illness, injury, or unexpected hardship—prevented you from continuing your studies. This process allows eligible students to have their tuition fees refunded or re-credited for the affected subject(s). Before applying, review the eligibility requirements and gather valid supporting evidence to help your request be assessed fairly and efficiently under Ikon’s Fees and Refund Policy and Student Services Policy.
When You Can Apply
You may be eligible to apply for a Remittal of Fees if you had to withdraw from a subject or were unable to complete it due to circumstances beyond your control, such as:
- Serious illness, injury, or medical condition (your own or an immediate family member’s)
- Bereavement or significant trauma
- Unforeseen caring responsibilities or crisis situations
- Major personal, financial, or domestic hardship
- Natural disaster, political unrest, or other extenuating events
Applications will not be approved if the situation could have been reasonably anticipated, managed, or avoided (e.g., minor illnesses, normal work commitments, or travel plans).
Before You Apply
Before submitting your request:
- Remittal requests must be made using the online Remittal of Fees Request Form.
- Review what qualifies as compassionate or compelling circumstances.
- Check that your supporting evidence clearly shows how your circumstances directly impacted your ability to continue studying.
- Ensure your application is complete — incomplete or unsupported submissions cannot be processed.
- If your situation is ongoing, consider whether a Reasonable Adjustment might be more suitable than a remittal.

How to Apply
- Complete the online Remittal of Fees Request Form.
- Attach supporting evidence (PDF or JPG) from a qualified professional that explains your circumstances and how they affected your study.
- Submit your application within 12 months of your withdrawal date or the end of the teaching period for the subject, whichever is later.
- If your application is late, include a short explanation for the delay — late requests are only considered in exceptional circumstances.
After You Apply
You’ll receive a written outcome via email once a decision has been made:
- Approved: Your tuition fees will be refunded or re-credited for the affected subject(s). Refunds are made to the original payment method in line with Ikon’s Fees and Refund Policy.
- More information required: You may be asked to provide additional details or documents.
- Not approved: You’ll be informed of the reason for the decision. If you believe an error was made or have new evidence to support your case, you may request a review of the decision within 10 business days of receiving your outcome.
