What is an appeal and when should you apply?

Caroline Lee Caroline Lee

All students have the right to access the grievance and appeals process to seek resolution for any dissatisfaction regarding matters within Ikon's responsibility or control. The resolution framework consists of four stages:

  • Stage 1: Informal Resolution
  • Stage 2: Formal Grievance
  • Stage 3: Appeal a Decision
  • Stage 4: External Independent Review

You may submit an appeal in the following circumstances:

  • Regarding the determination or outcome of a formal grievance
  • Concerning an assessment review, recognition of prior learning outcome, or issues of academic misconduct
  • Related to the cancellation or suspension of a domestic student’s enrolment due to unsatisfactory academic progress
  • Involving the deferral, suspension, or cancellation of an international student’s enrolment, including release to another provider and intentions to report to the Department of Home Affairs for unsatisfactory academic progress

There is no fee to access the internal appeals process, and the resolution framework does not limit or restrict your right to pursue action under Commonwealth or State consumer protection laws or to seek legal remedies.
