Ikon monitors academic progress during and at the end of each study period to ensure students are meeting course requirements and to identify anyone who may need support. Monitoring includes checking subject results, class participation, attendance patterns, and overall engagement. If you are not meeting the minimum requirements—passing at least 50% of subjects each study period and completing each subject within three attempts—Ikon will contact you and offer support before any formal action is taken.
How Ikon monitors academic progress
Ikon uses a structured, three-stage process aligned with the Student Academic Progress Policy:
1. Early detection and support
Ikon reviews attendance, engagement, and assessment submissions throughout the study period. If early signs of difficulty appear, Ikon may contact you to check in and recommend support options such as Academic Learning Support or wellbeing services.
2. At-risk identification
You may be identified as “at risk” if you:
- fail more than half of your enrolled subjects in a study period, or
- repeat the same subject.
At this stage, Ikon may work with you to develop an Academic Improvement Plan, outlining clear steps and support options to help you get back on track.
3. Unsatisfactory academic progress
If performance does not improve over two consecutive study periods, Ikon may issue an official Intention to Report/Cancel Enrolment email. You will have 20 business days to appeal under the Grievance & Appeals Policy.
International students may be reported to the Department of Home Affairs via PRISMS if an appeal is not lodged or is unsuccessful.
